How do I become a member?
Becoming a member is very easy and can be done either using the paper form or online. Signing up only takes a few moments and your membership is effective immediately.
What are union dues in 2018/19?
Union dues are based on your FTE percentage and break down as follows:

Dues are deducted via payroll and broken into equal amounts over the length of the academic appointment. It is generally about $53.00/paycheck.
How do I cancel my membership?
To cancel your union membership you must write a letter stating your desire to end your membership bearing your signature to the UEA office. You can cancel your membership at any time but may still be responsible for dues deductions until the end of the membership year. The dates that that request will be effective and the procedure for ending dues deductions also will vary from member to member depending on your most recent membership registration card. Please contact the UEA office (firstname.lastname@example.org) to find out what the specific rules that apply to your membership are.
How do I get a refund of the portion of my dues that pay the PAC and/or Foundation?
To obtain a refund of your PAC fees portion of your dues you must complete this form and send it to Education Minnesota following the instructions included on the form.

Can I choose to still pay Fair Share fees after Janus?
No. The Supreme Court’s ruling on the Janus case did away with Fair Share fees and Fair Share membership level. In a post-Janus world you either a member of the union or you are a nonmember. Members pay their dues and nonmembers benefit from the union without paying their fair share.
Where is the UEA office and when is it open?
The UEA Office is located at 204/210 Kirby Student Center. It is in the boardroom/conference room in the back corner of Griggs Center. The UEA office staffed part time - typically M-F 9a-1p.
How can I learn more about the activities of the union?
The website is a great way to stay up to date with the doings of your union. You can also join the Facebook page, read the weekly emails from UEA President Scott Laderman, watch for the UEA Union Caller newsletter, attend General membership meetings or planned UEA socials, reach out to your UEA Rep Council department representative or any member of the UEA Executive committee.
